My flight was canceled what do I do

My flight was canceled what do I do?
I was supposed to levee to day from new York to Miami then Miami to Uruguay There is a snow blizzard and my flight to Miami is canceled and so I'm missing that flight and the one from Miami to uruguay. I called the airline and after an hour and a half of waiting someone picked up and said sorry you flight has been cancelled we will notify you in 24 hours and hung up. He did not give me a chance to talk. So what do I do know? Please help me thank you

Call someone at the airport.

You stay where you are and wait for the blizzard to be over and then the airline will put you on the next available flight - which might take a while. It's not like they can bring in extra planes for the stranded people, so they just have to run every flight full until they get caught up again.

You'll have to wait for them to contact you. Or call them back once you become aware that the airport is operating again. Be aware that airlines have no control over the weather and therefore are not responsible for inconveniences or expenses that might result from weather caused delays or cancellations.

There is not anything you can do right now except to wait out the storm. Unless the airline can re-route you to Miami through another city, there is noting you can do.

what airline are your flying? If you are on Delta you can log onto their website. It will say something like "your flight has been canceled. Find alternate arrangements." You can then search and rebook yourself on another flight.
