How can I get from the Fort Lauderdale Airport to the University of Miami

How can I get from the Fort Lauderdale Airport to the University of Miami ?
So im going there by myself in the summer for a camp at the university (im 17 ) but I'm thinking from flying from boston to Fort Lauderdale because JEtBlu my preffered airline doesnt have flights to Miami, and delta, the only other airline I can afford that offers flights to Miami, has horrible customer service and overall sucks. But idk if there are public buses or trains or anything like that that will get me from F.L. to Miami, a cab qould be too expensive I think, does anyone have any suggestions?

you could hitchhike, but remember the rules of the road...I would watch Jay and Silent Bob Strike back to learn the etiquette of hitchhiking.

The money you'll save on the airfare you'll spend on the ground transportation. Fly to Miami and take a cab to Coral Cables. U of M is only 7 miles from the Miami airport. It's over 30 miles from the Ft. Lauderdale airport to the school.

take a cab b/c ft.laud is far away from UM. Also, since you are going to a camp program, maybe you can get in touch with the program to ask if they are organizing any airport pickup transfers or if you can get in touch with someone else that's flying in from the same airport to get a ride together and that way you can both save money.

It is actually pretty easy & cheap. First take TRI-Rail from FLL to Miami as follows: At the airport go to the County bus stop to the left outside arrivals & there take the free tri-rail shuttle (a white Mini-Bus with a Tri-rail sign) to Tri-rail station. (about 10 min) Here you buy a ticket at the booth or the vending machine to the "Metro-Rail Transfer station" (about $6 ot $7 depending on day). When you get to the transfer station (only about 30 minutes), get off & pay $2.00 at the ticket machine for Metro-Rail. Take the escalator up to the Metro-Rail station. Take the train southbound to the University of Miami station. (also about 25-30 minutes) U of M station is right across the street from one of the main entrances to the University campus. If you don't already have a campus map you can ask anybody for directions as to your ultimate destination. Miami Metro-Rail runs every 10-30 min. depending on time of day, but Tri-Rail is a commuter line that runs every half hour at rush hours; every hour during mid-day; every two hours on weekends and not at all from about 10:00 PM to 5:00 am. So you must be traveling in the day-time for this to work. Go to www.Tri-rail.com for exact schedules.
