What happens to the second portion of a connect flight ticket if there is a snowstorm that delays/cancels the?
first portion to the connect destination? i.e a flight from NY to Miami gets delayed/canceled resulting you to miss the connection from Miami to the Caribbean? What if they were booked as one ticket but are provided by two separate carriers?

If they were booked as a single ticket the second carrier would show as a codeshare on the first. The carrier you purchased the tickets from will be responsible for rescheduling/refunding both segments.

Contact your flight agency or the airline and they will surely understand. yourflightagent.wordpress.com

If they're on one ticket, they have to reaccomodate you for the whole itinerary. Call the airline that operates the first flight and they should be able to help you.

You would be re-booked...........happens all the time............but you would not be reimbursed for the vacation time lost.............sorry...........sucks..........

It depends if by "booked as one ticket" you mean that a travel agent or travel agency website booked it all for you or that the two airlines have a "codeshare" agreement and you booked it through one of the airline's websites directly. If the two airlines have no affiliation with eachother and you simply booked them at once on a travel agent website then the second airline would have no responsibility to reaccommodate you (without using their discretion of course). You would most likely have to pay for a new flight out of your own pocket. If the two airlines have a "codeshare" agreement then they should move your second flight for you free of charge. Google the two airlines to see if they have a "codeshare" agreement and you'll find your answer.
